City Council Meeting | February 24, 2025

City Recognition
  • City manager presented awards to Mont Belvieu employees who kept the city safe during Winter Storm Enzo

  • 2025 R.O.A.D Ready Safety Rodeo finalists also received recognition

New Italian Restaurant Coming to Town
  • Rotolo's Craft & Crust approved for development

  • Will be one of the first locations on this side of Houston

  • Menu features pizzas, pastas, salads, and more

  • Location: Corner of Eagle Drive and Langston Boulevard (next to Someburger)

  • Three additional tenants planned for surrounding area

  • Special Alcohol Variance requested

    1. Variance needed due to restaurant's proximity to BHISD property

    2. City Ordinance section 4.4 typically prohibits alcohol sales within 300 feet of schools

City Grant Awarded
  • Toasted Yolk has proven to be active in community involvement by:

    • Supporting city events

    • Participating and hosting Mont Belvieu Area Chamber of Commerce activities

    • Allowing Cactus Jack’s, their neighboring tenant, to use their parking lot for overflow during evening hours

  • Therefore, Toasted Yolk awarded Ad Valorem Tax Reimbursement Grant

  • Grant provides up to $25,000 annually or equivalent to tax collections

  • Grant also approved for upcoming Jeremiah Bucks, not to exceed $15,000 annually

City Council Election Update
  • Upcoming re-election has unopposed candidates for both seats

  • May 3, 2025 election officially canceled

  • Cancellation follows Texas Election Code Section 2.053(a)

Barbers Hill Eagles: Two heartbreaking losses amidst impressive victories.

Girls Basketball
  • Barbers Hill girls basketball fell to Liberty Hill Tuesday, ending the game 33-43

Boys Basketball
  • Barbers Hill varsity basketball team suffered a 48-38 defeat in Tuesday's neutral playoff game

The Eagles’ basketball playoff runs came to an end with the losses, yet we’re immensely proud of our boys and girls. What a season!

Soccer Highlights ⚽️ 
  • Girls Varsity Soccer crushed Beaumont United 7-0 in Friday's away conference match

  • Boys Varsity Soccer defeated Beaumont United 4-0 in Friday's home conference match

    • Complete Program Sweep against United with JV White winning 2-0 and JV Blue winning 5-0

Baseball Highlights ⚾️ 
  • Dominated Pearland Dawson 9-0 in Thursday's tournament game

  • Defeated Porter 9-4 in Saturday's home non-conference matchup

  • Jorge Garza delivered an outstanding pitching performance with 4 strikeouts while allowing just one run over 3 innings

Softball Tournament Results 🥎 
  • Started strong with a 3-1 victory over Kingwood Mustangs

  • Continued momentum by dominating Foster Falcons 4-1

  • Shut out Katy Tigers 2-0 on Saturday Tournament run ended with a 12-4 loss to the Keller Indians
