Scoop Lesson: How to 4-way Stop

Sometimes, events occur in our community that are beyond our control. This past weekend, multiple accidents took place at the intersection of 3180 and Eagle Drive. Various social media posts attributed these incidents to faulty traffic lights, the City, TxDOT, distracted drivers, and other factors. While all of these could have played a part, the safest approach is to drive attentively and predictably, even when defensive driving is necessary. With all this in mind, and considering that people have been injured and lives affected, we do not take this situation lightly. Our goal as a community should be to prevent future accidents. Therefore, we would like to remind our community about proper four-way stop procedures. When a stoplight is blinking red, it is considered a stop sign. 🛑

  1. At a four-way stop, all vehicles must come to a complete stop at the stop signs or blinking light.

  2. The right-of-way is determined by the order of arrival - the first vehicle to stop should be the first to proceed through the intersection.

  3. When multiple vehicles arrive simultaneously, the vehicle on the right has priority.

  4. Only one vehicle should proceed through the intersection at a time, and drivers should wait until the intersection is completely clear before moving forward.

Meet Santa Rosa | 🐕‍🦺

This sweet German Shepherd mix arrived at the MB shelter in terrible condition - malnourished, infested with parasites, suffering from double ear infections, and battling a skin infection. Though originally adopted in the Dallas area, she somehow made her way to Mont Belvieu (how she got here remains a mystery).

The MB Shelter has spent considerable time nursing her back to health to ensure she's healthy and ready for adoption. Santa Rosa is now eager to find a new home - one that will provide the care and love she deserves. She does well with people of all ages and other dogs. It’s unknown how she interacts with cats. Help us find her furever home!🫶 Adopt Santa Rosa HERE

Swim Team Excels

The Eagles swim team excelled at the Regional Swim Meet in Sugar Land, with two standouts advancing to the state meet in Austin this weekend. Freshman Gwyn Chen, who will compete in the 100 fly and 100 backstroke, and freshman Ethan Miguez, who will compete in the 100 fly, both earned spots.

During the regional competition, the boys and girls swim teams competed in 30 prelim races and 21 finals races. Overall, Barbers Hill had nine events on the podium, with three first-place finishes, one third, one fifth, and four sixth-place finishes, including the boys and girls medley relay and 200 free relays.

The team has had a record-breaking season, setting four new records last weekend. “The BH swim team has worked hard all year, and their efforts paid off,” said Coach Kimberly Anders.

The boys finished seventh out of 21 teams at Regionals, and the girls team placed fifth out of 20.
